Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on Senior Accountant & Financial Operations Lead to manage, control, and execute all financial and accounting activities of our rapidly growing business. This is not an executive or managerial position, yet it requires a top-tier finance professional with excellent technical accounting skills, strong analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of Hungarian financial, accounting, and tax regulations. The ideal candidate is accurate, responsible, structured, and thrives in a dynamic operational environment where precision, transparency, and reliability are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full-Cycle Accounting & Compliance
● Manage end-to-end accounting, including bank reconciliations, AP/AR, invoices, expenses, and monthly close.
● Ensure strict compliance with Hungarian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
● Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
● Ensure timely submission of all statutory reports and declarations.
2. Financial Reporting & Control
● Prepare and maintain core financial reports, including:
○ Profit & Loss
○ Balance Sheet
○ Cash Flow
○ Cost & profitability reports
● Perform variance analysis, margin analysis, and cost tracking.
● Provide accurate financial data that supports management decision-making.
● Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of all financial records
3. Operational Finance & Daily Execution
● Manage daily financial operations, including:
○ Supplier invoice processing
○ Purchase order matching
○ Customer invoicing
○ Collections follow-up
○ Payment scheduling
● Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and on time.
● Maintain strong control over costs, pricing accuracy, and financial documentation.
4. Financial Systems & Process Optimization
● Work with ERP and financial systems (Microsoft Business Central is an advantage).
● Improve workflows for purchasing, invoicing, cash flow tracking, and controls.
● Assist in building automated reports and digital finance tools.
● Streamline processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
5. Risk Management & Internal Controls
● Maintain and enforce internal control procedures.
● Identify financial inconsistencies, errors, or irregularities.
● Support adherence to corporate governance and audit requirements.
● Ensure proper documentation, approval flows, and audit trails.
Requirements
Requirements Professional Background
● Minimum 5 years experience as an Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Financial Controller.
● Hands-on experience in AP/AR, monthly close, cash flow, cost controls, and reporting.
● Experience in B2B operations (invoicing, collections, supplier coordination).
● Experience in FMCG, food distribution, or imports is a strong advantage.
● Solid understanding of inventory-related accounting, margins, and cost structures. Technical & Analytical Skills
● Full command of Hungarian accounting standards and tax regulations.
● Strong experience with accounting software and ERP systems (Business Central advantage).
● Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, analysis, formulas).
● Ability to prepare accurate financial reports, forecasts, and cost analyses.
● Strong understanding of cash flow, banking operations, and reconciliations.
Language & Communication
● Business-level English – required.
● Hungarian – native or proficient level.
