Responsibilities
The British Embassy in Hungary is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas, and it is now seeking a Post Security and Transport Manager to primarily ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day management of security and transport services at the Embassy.
Main purpose of job:
The position plays a vital role in the provision of the platform that supports the effective and efficient delivery of the Embassy’s Country Plan and is a key corporate support role with a strong focus on supervision of physical security, transport management and logistical and health and safety support across the Embassy. The job holder will act as the line manager to the IT Support and Corporate Services officer who is responsible for IT services at the Embassy, general Corporate Services administration and Health & Safety functions, and the transport team of two drivers. The position directly reports to the Head of Corporate Services (HCS) and is tasked on security matters by the Post Security Officer or Deputy (PSO/DPSO) and the Regional Security Adviser (RSA).
Roles and responsibilities:
Security
The jobholder is responsible for the physical security of the British Embassy building and official/private residences, as well as providing security advice to all staff and dependants of UK diplomats working at the Embassy. He/she will be the first point of contact for the Security Guarding Company ensure the provision of services in line with the contract and will supervise the security guards. The Job Holder builds and maintains a network of key contacts and overseas local policy and practices related to security.
Transport
The jobholder is responsible for the efficient management of the transport pool, scheduling of drivers and vehicles to meet the operational demands of the Embassy. This position requires excellent fleet management skills to ensure maintenance scheduling and repairs are completed in an efficient manner and to the highest standards. The role also requires the incumbent to display excellent financial management of the transport budget. There may be occasions when the Job Holder will be required to drive official vehicles.
Line management
Tasking of the IT Support and Corporate Officer to ensure the efficient and secure local delivery of IT facilities to all staff at Post, as well as making sure appropriate Health & Safety measures are well managed. Line management of the two drivers to ensure efficient, safe and professional delivery of transport services.
Other roles:
- Act as the Embassy’s Building Incident Co-ordinator and Embassy Fire Safety Manager to ensure emergency procedures are reviewed, staff are aware of their responsibilities and any required changes are implemented.
- Deputise for other staff in the Corporate Services team to cover absences.
- Support the Embassy’s response to any crisis, as required.
Requirements
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Our Ideal Candidate Shows:
- Full professional proficiency in Hungarian and English (written and spoken, minimum C1 for CEFR framework);
- Minimum 2 years of line management experience;
- Some previous experience in security sector or similar;
- Strong administration and organisational skills;
- Team player, yet able to work independently;
- Strong initiative and ability to effectively respond to changing workloads and priorities;
- Experience of Microsoft applications – Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel;
- A valid driving licence and regular driving experience.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Nice to have:
- Professional qualification in security management;
- An interest in domestic and international current affairs and security implications;
- Experience of and/or interest in IT security.

This opportunity is for a full-time, permanent contract, of 35 hours net per week, from Monday to Friday.
The gross salary for this position is HUF 797,342 gross per month payable 12 times per year.
