Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting efforts at a dynamic and fast-growing international company with headquarters in Budapest
- Take full ownership of the accounting function across multiple countries
- Manage and mentor your own finance team (including junior colleagues)
- Develop and improve financial processes in collaboration with company leadership
- Handle full statutory bookkeeping in compliance with current regulations
- Ensure monthly and quarterly tax compliance
- Supervise payroll and social security administration
- Oversee accounting for inventory, cost-of-sales, and menu engineering
- Lead the month-end close process and prepare management reporting, including P&L, cash flow, and KPI dashboards (e.g., food cost %, labour cost %, EBITDA)
- Review historical CAPEX vs. OPEX classifications
- Drive tax planning and optimisation strategies
- Identify and rectify prior-period misstatements; coordinate NAV self-revision procedures as needed
- Prepare and electronically file annual statutory financial statements, management reports, and corporate registry submissions; sign as statutory CPA where applicable (Accace)
- Act as the main liaison for NAV, local municipalities, KSH statistical reporting, and NÉBIH food-safety audits
- Build and maintain 12-month rolling forecasts, scenario models, and funding-need analyses
- Provide financial input into expansion planning and M&A due diligence processes
- Evaluate and implement accounting/ERP systems integrating POS, supplier portals, and bank feeds; recommend external service providers and create an implementation roadmap
- Design the internal finance team structure, define roles and headcount, and manage hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and mentoring
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and GDPR regulations
- Coordinate with the external accounting firm and review their deliverables
- Support all due diligence and M&A-related activities
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Fluent in Hungarian (written and spoken)
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Solution-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to challenges
- Team player with positive energy, good communication skills, and a collaborative attitude
Nice-to-have
- Fluency in other CEE regional languages
- Previous experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry
