Responsibilities
Project Development and Implementation
- Facilitates and supports the creation of country-wide networks of alumni from all EV activities and exchanges; plans and implements innovative activities to maintain substantive contact with those alumni.
- Plans, implements and coordinates exchange programs and alumni activities to engage youth and non-traditional audiences, and to expand Mission access to priority Emerging Voices (EV) communities.
- Manages Hungarian components of programs and develops Mission-designed exchange activities. Is responsible for carrying out all Hungarian aspects of inbound and outbound exchange programs for EV audiences.
- Identifies/recruits Hungarian participants for U.S. exchange programs and participates in applicant review and selection. Monitors development of their U.S. programs; organizes pre-departure logistics, orientations, and briefings for participants, and, if they are minors, for their guardians.
Strategic Planning, Analysis and Evaluation
- Designs and actively plans in advance virtual exchange programs to engage EV audiences.
- Identifies the EV communities where exchanges have the greatest impact on Mission goals, using demographic statistics, public opinion polling, and analysis of communication and language abilities.
- Assesses previous activities to fine-tune projections for planned initiatives; identifies project objectives, assessment methods, and outcomes.
Intra- and Interagency Coordination
- Develops strong working contacts with Mission offices and agencies whose goals and objectives align or overlap with EV exchanges.
- Coordinates exchange programs across the Mission to support and amplify impact of overall EV engagement, and consults on exchange programs conducted by other sections/agencies.
- Develops opportunities for Mission officers and community to engage with exchange participants and alumni network(s) on priority issues. Collaborates with Strategic Content Coordination team and Professional Exchanges Coordinator.
Administrative Functions
- Prepares and monitors the annual and individual project budgets for EV exchange and alumni initiatives.
- Works on PAO-led fundraising for countrywide EV exchange programs.
- Serves as Grants Officer Representative for exchange program grants and cooperative agreements.
Full time position, 40 hours per week. Occasional in-country and regional travel, including overnight trips.
Appointment Type Details: Maternity cover.
Requirements
Education:
University degree in international relations, communications, marketing, public relations, American Studies, intercultural/multicultural studies or local equivalent is required.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational work environment is required, with project management, marketing, public relations, communication, or education duties as a significant part of the job.
Language:
English – Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing is required.
Hungarian – Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing is required.
